  • No time off in lieu is granted when a Public Holiday falls on a Saturday.
  • If a public holiday falls on a Thursday, it is common for many workers to take the Friday as a bridge to create a long weekend.
  • Only May Day or Labour Day (1st May) is a statutory public holiday in France for all employees
  • The entitlement to paid holiday is stated on the employment contract or trade union agreement between employees and employers
  • Most national monuments, cathedrals and museums are closed on Tuesdays
