A public holiday, national holiday or legal holiday is a holiday generally established by law and is usually a non-working day during the year. This page contains public holidays sorted by years.   • Public Holidays in Brunei also referred to as “Prescribed Holidays“.
  • As Brunei is a Islamic country, most of prescribed holidays are base on Islamic culture and political observances.
  • Prescribed Holidays may fixed regard to the religion and customs of workers.
  • Entitlement of paid holidays and annual leave is stated in Chapter 93 of Brunei’s Labour Act
  • Nevertheless, Employment contract or Union Bargaining Agreement outline working conditions, overtime compensation, entitlement for paid prescribed holidays and annual leave.
  • Brunei is one of the few countries to have a split weekend – Friday and Sunday are weekend days, and Saturday is usually a shortened day
  • If a holiday falls on a Friday or Sunday, it will be moved to next working day
