  • Pay day off for national holiday is based on individual working contracts
  • Some holiday especially those not religious or patriotic in nature may be moved to the closest Monday to create long weekends
  • Most Dominican Republic businesses close at noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, while they are not recognized as national public holidays
