A public holiday, national holiday or legal holiday is a holiday generally established by law and is usually a non-working day during the year. This page contains public holidays sorted by years.   • Chile or officially the Republic of Chile, is a South American country occupying a long, narrow strip of land between the Andes to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west
  • Chilean public holidays are established by presidential decree and only presidential decree can perform amendment
  • Modern Chilean holidays were established by Presidential Decree 2977 on January 28, 1915
  • Minister of Labor will announce Chile’s Official public holiday for the following year base on presidential decrees, as different president can add or remove some of the holidays
  • Presidential elections, parliamentary and municipal elections and censuses are declared holidays
