- Chilean public holidays are established by presidential decree and only presidential decree can perform amendment
- Modern Chilean holidays were established by Presidential Decree 2977 on January 28, 1915
- Minister of Labor will announce Chile’s Official public holiday for the following year base on presidential decrees, as different president can add or remove some of the holidays
- Presidential elections, parliamentary and municipal elections and censuses are declared holidays
